Cape Saint Claire wildlife control tip of the month:

What should I do if I find an orphaned baby raccoon wandering about?

You may find a raccoon or a baby raccoon wandering around your yard. It happens all the time when you least expect it. It happens because of certain reasons. The mother might have frozen and find it hard to know the young are left behind. The mother may have moved from a new Cape Saint Claire pest control hub and had to leave them behind. It may also be because they are orphan and the mother has been caught and relocated. It may also be the mom is still hunting for food. Whatever the situation is, you have to do something when you found a raccoon wandering around your property.

Things to know
Find out if the raccoon is orphaned. It may be wandering while the mother is sleeping or hunting for food. It may also be that the mother is in the process of hunting for a new Cape Saint Claire animal control hub for them. You can leave it alone and see if the mother will come and get it. You can save babies raccoons, you can raise them and then release them to the Cape Saint Claire wildlife removal when they are ready. But this is not the best way to do it. It will be best to be raised by its mother. You cannot keep a raccoon and make it a home pet.

Place them in a box. If you are not sure yet if they are an orphan or not, the best thing to do is to save them, you can bring them to a rehab later on to keep them until they are ready to be out in the wild once again. You must wear gloves when you use your hands to take them. You can also get a warm bottle, blanket and Cape Saint Claire animal trapping heating pad, but don’t dare to feed them. They can live for a long time without eating, but the wrong kind of food like cow’s milk can kill them.

Keep them warm all the time. It is so essential to keep the orphaned Cape Saint Claire exterminator raccoon warm all the time. The typical body temperature is around 101 to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. The small orphaned raccoons have an abnormal body temperature, because they only have little hair. Keeping them warm is important all the time, especially if they are cold. The coldness of the weather can kill them, so you can use a heating pad or warm water bottle to keep them warm.

Baby raccoons are not meant for home keeping, it must be taken care of and weaned by the mother, but you can keep it until such time that the mother is out again.
